Refund policy
EU:
We have a 14-day return policy for Europe, which means you have 14 days your item to return to us.
To start a return, you can contact us at hello@novum-ex-vetere-vintage.de. Please note that returns will need to be sent to the following address: Friolán Archivio Inh. Maria Pucknat Starenweg 16a 49835 Wietmarschen Deutschland
If your return is accepted, the item must be unworn, undamaged, and returned with all original tags attached. The buyer covers all return shipping costs (insured).

Archival Integrity, Deadstock Status & Value Diminution (§ 357a BGB) for the EU
The items curated by Friolán Archivio are irreplaceable historical artifacts, museum-grade collector pieces, and documented new-old-stock (NOS) garments. Due to their unique provenance and unrepeatable condition, their market and collector value depends entirely on pristine textile preservation.

Standard of Examination: While EU consumers hold a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal, items may only be inspected and tried on strictly within the limits of what would be permissible in a physical gallery setting (careful, static fitting without removing tags or seals).

Handling Beyond Permissible Fitting: Any handling exceeding a basic fitting—including wearing the piece for events, editorial shoots, or social occasions—constitutes unauthorized use. The removal, breaking, or altering of our externally affixed Curator Security Seal serves as prima facie evidence of use beyond mere examination.

Compensable Diminution in Value: If an item is returned showing signs of unauthorized handling or compromised preservation, we will exercise our statutory right to claim compensation for the resulting loss of value (§ 357a BGB). Because historical textiles cannot be industrially replaced or restored without irreversible alteration, the following will be deducted directly from your refund:

Removable Surface Marks / Minor Odors: Deduction of the actual verified costs for professional archival restoration and ozone sanitization up to 30%

Persistent Odors (Perfume, Body Odor, Smoke): Perfume oils and smoke permanently embed in vintage fibers. If an olfactory trace persists, the garment loses its NOS/collector grade, entitling us to a value depreciation deduction of 40% to 100%.

Stains, Pulls & Material Damage: Even minor micro-stains, deodorant traces, makeup transfer, thread pulls, or seam strain irrevocably destroy the museum status of a 1-of-1 historical piece. Where such defects render the garment unsaleable to collectors, the resulting loss in commercial value is total, and we reserve the right to deduct up to 100% of the purchase price.

International Buyers (Outside EU):
To maintain the integrity of our archival collection, all sales to countries outside the European Union (e.g., USA, Japan, UK) are FINAL. We do not offer returns or exchanges for international
Exceptions / non-returnable items
Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants), custom products (such as special orders or personalized items), and personal care goods (such as beauty products). We also do not accept returns for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.
Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
